Words are everything and nothing to an actor. A script is filled with words, but it’s when you begin to feel the words you take a major leap.

Emmy-winning director Steve Horswill-Johnston will help you begin to think beyond the audition to learn the four elements in every scene:

Actors will have a chance to be directed in a scene by Mr. Horswill-Johnston. Steve will teach and walk you through those elements in a safe and fun environment. Students will do scene work together and discuss the elements that help us feel what’s behind the words. Steve will offer helpful guidance after every scene.

Steve Horswill-Johnston is a four-time winning Nashville director. His work includes both narrative film as well as directing fortune 500 brand image films and TV commercials for Amazon, Grand Hyatt, Country Music Hall of Fame, Ritz-Carlton, The United Methodist Church (HQ), and many others. He has directed and produced more than 50 films and produced and wrote two feature films. He also works as a consultant with DreamWorks in Gendale, CA.

Steve is the owner of both HJ Films and Nashville Aerial, specializing in ground and aerial cinematography. His company was recently chosen to lead the drone team for the 2021 CMT Awards. Steve is also a SAG actor who understands the acting craft.
